Photo Friday | Preparing for Earth Day

As with pretty much everything so far this year, Earth Day is still managing to sneak up on me!

For yet another weekend, the rain looks to put a damper on events, but I'm still looking forward to attending the annual Earth Day festival at Vermilionville to check out the booths and exhibits.

There will be yoga once again in the schoolhouse, led by this awesome lady, Erin. And new this year is a Fix-It Cafe hosted by No Waste Lafayette. They'll be focusing on fixing clothing, accessories, jewelry or shoes, so bring anything you have on out and let them help you!

If the weather holds up and you're up for some bicycle fun, there is a Bike to Earth Day Poker Run starting at 11:00 on Sunday, running from downtown Lafayette to Vermilionville.

Check out the Earth Day Festival Facebook event or the Vermilionville website for the full list of events happening Sunday.

As far as how I'm celebrating Earth Month in the midst of a super busy time? I had the pleasure of being invited to speak at a meeting for the women's volunteer organization Les Deux Douzaines. I shared with the group about my arsenal of reusable items, composting benefits, recycling issues, and the importance of reducing and reusing what we consume.

It was a beautiful morning, and we were gathered in this amazing patio space mostly built with reclaimed wood and thrifted items. That coffee table on the left was made out of a piece of driftwood!

I've been doing a little traveling for work over the past few weeks, and with sitting in a car for hours, comfort has been key. This secondhand maternity dress has been a lifesaver on the comfort scale! Over the next few months, I'll be doing a lot of blog posts on how I'm aiming for a sustainable pregnancy and baby! Expect one on my maternity style for sure.

If you're looking to celebrate Earth Day by investing in some eco-friendly products, make sure to check out EarthHero! They've curated a list of Staff Picks, and everything on the list is 15% off until Sunday. The picks range from personal care to apparel and home essentials.

And you can still use the discount code ECOCAJUN sitewide for 15% off any items, so take advantage of that!

If you're looking for a great pair of shorts to take you through festival season and into summer, check out these Tentree shorts available at EarthHero. These are definitely in my wardrobe plans for Festival International.

I am always looking forward to when I can make it to my weekly yoga class, and whether it's Earth Month or not, I've always got a trusty reusable water bottle. In the case of yesterday's class, it was a cup from my office because my bottle was at home!

And looking beyond Earth Day on Sunday, Festival International is happening next week, and I cannot wait! I've got an article coming out in the Times of Acadiana on Thursday, and I'll have a blog post as well to share ways you can be a more eco-friendly Festival-goer.

This year will most definitely not include sangria or daiquris, but I still intend to use reusable cups and straws!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook for all kinds of Earth Day fun this weekend, and let me know how you plan to celebrate in the comments below!
