Giving Tuesday, giving meaning to the holiday season

Finished with your Christmas shopping, after hitting those Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday sales? Yeah, me neither.

But what I AM ready for is Giving Tuesday, a day focused on giving back.

You can participate in your own way - volunteer with a nonprofit, donate food to the hungry or donate money to your nonprofit of choice. However you give, it will make a difference this holiday season.

You can also participate in Giving Tuesday by posting photos with #unselfie and #givingtuesday. You'll be featured on the Giving Tuesday website, and you'll share the message with all your followers! It's such a simple way to care about others for an important day.

If you want to support an environmental nonprofit this year, here are just a few to check out (but of course, choose any nonprofit you want!)
  • charity: water. Bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
  • World Wildlife Fund. Conserving nature and reducing the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth.
  • Greenpeace. Uses peaceful protest and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and to promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future.
  • Global Green USA. Fostering a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure future.
  • Trees for the Future. Planting trees for their ecological benefits, and to benefit people in need.
  • People for Bikes. The movement to make bike riding better for everyone.
  • Wildlife Conservation Network. Saving wildlife by helping independent conservationists build connections and strong, sustainable organizations.
  • Sierra Club. One of the nation's largest grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters.
  • The Conservation Fund. Working to save land for future generations.
  • Environmental Defense Fund. Working to solve the most critical environmental problems facing the planet.
  • Nature Conservancy. A leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.
What's your favorite way to give back during the holidays?
